September, 2015  In partnership with UGA, Flavor of Georgia finalists and winners participated in Taste of Atlanta.  What a great venue to introduce artisinal foods to folks across Georgia.

cashiers-show.jpg      cashiers.jpg     cashiers-july.jpgIn July 2015 we had the opportunity to participate in the Joy Garden Tour, a bi-annual event held in Cashiers, NC to benefit the Village Greens complex.  So much fun getting to know the other vendors (and do some shopping ourselves) as well as tour an incredible dalia farm.  This flower was one of our favorites but there were hundreds of varieties and hard to step away from such beauty.  If you've never been to Cashiers, put it on your bucket list; absolutely beautiful!

new-booth.jpg The July 2015 Atlanta Gift Show was the venue for unveiling our new packaging and new booth.  We had a wonderful week seeing folks who currently carry our cheese straws, meeting new shop owners, and simply sharing our different flavors of cheese straws.  We LOVE our new backdrop, signs, labels, and banners and give all the credit to our partners at LEM Marketing.

 fancy-food-2.jpg    key-lime.jpg
baked.jpg  matt-lewis.jpgJune 2015 we visited beautiful New York City, one of the greatest places ever to study FOOD!  We attended the Fancy Food Show (amazing) and visited with a couple of bakeries & food shops in Brooklyn which are world-known.  Matt Lewis, one of the co-founders of Baked, has been someone we've followed and admired as he's grown his business from one shop in Brooklyn to three locations across the U.S.  And have you ever been to Steve's Authentic Key Lime Pie shop.  OMG; the BEST key lime pies ever.

The Market at Sea Island is a fantastic gourmet market located on St. Simons Island, situated right before the causeway headed to Sea Island.  Twice a month they host an outside Saturday Market and we had the chance to participate over Memorial Weekend.  What a treat!  Can't find a prettier place than Sea Island and St. Simons if you tried; gorgeous!

flavor-of-ga.jpgThe new year brought new adventures for Southern Straws.  We were recognized by the University of Georgia's Flavor of Georgia contest as a finalist in their snack category for products produced in Georgia.  Great experience, great opportunity to meet other Georgia Grown companies, and wonderful chance to share our cheeses straws with folks across the state.

What an incredible event we participated in on March 13, 2015.  Sponsored by Synovus, the Toast of the Town, which benefits the Columbus Symphony Orchestra, brought in patrons from all around to enjoy fine wines, beer, cocktails, and delicious foods from local restaurants and food establishments.  We handed out over 700 samples of our original and cajun spicy cheese straws, and had a ball enjoying the evening with everyone.

In January, we enjoyed a great week in Atlanta at the AmericasMart Home & Gift Show.  Vendors from everywhere sampled cheese straws, participated in our "Guess the Number of Cheese Straws in the Big Jar" and shopped our new spring and summer packaging.

CONGRATULATIONS to our social media winner Kim Schorr of Columbus, GA and our AmericasMart buyer Tasteful Connections of Rochester, NY for winning our Best Guess Wins Contest. Each person guessed 432 (the actual number was 433) and received a variety 3-pack of cheese straws.
